Blogging with Google Blogger: SEO

Google Blogger LogoMany bloggers use Google Blogger service to create blogs. It is fast, easy-to-use and free. But I wonder if Blogger can be used to create a long-term, possibly money earning blog. To find this out I am starting a series of polls, that should shed light on this matter. All results will be publicly available.

It seems like there is a lot of extra code on the blogger blog pages, since all the styling is done in the main template file and not externally. However i am not sure that this affects indexing.

There’s a lot of things I like about Google Blogger, but there are also some shortcomings, too (listed in the link provided, just click on my name.)

However, while I’m a pretty experienced web developer, I’m also quite lazy at times.

So, I just can’t be bothered to move over to something more bespoke .. yet! Although I do plan to, soon.

I rank quite highly on a number of keywords & key phrases, even despite some of the inherently SEO-unfriendly aspects of Google Blogger…

Like Wayne, I do fairly well in the search results for a variety of keyphrases, but Blogger is lacking in a lot of respects when it comes to good SEO techniques…

I just voted. Based on my experienced, blogspot blogs are given equal rights as websites and blogs with own domain name in Google ranking. You can put in your SEO effort on Blogspot blog, Google will place your blog in top if you done well in SEO. My blogspot blog is ranking first page in Google currently.
