Have you ever thought of asking top-notch celebrities like Paris Hilton or Britney Spears to promote your blog? Perhaps you did, but you were shy to ask. Well, I have some good news for you. They can help you promote your blog without even knowing it. And you know what? Your blog does not have to be even close to celebrities or gossip theme…

Before I go on, I need to clarify something. I am NOT fond of Paris Hilton, or Britney Spears, or any other celebrity. I do not follow news on what is going on with them. I never listened to their music. I even hate to use real Paris Hilton’s pic in this post.

The reason I picked up these particular names, Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, is that there is a lot of buzz around them all the time. As seen from Mike Perry’s post, Kate Middleton, former Prince William’s girl friend, is a good one too.

Here is what Mike says about using hot names or topics to attract visitors.

Search engine bait is quite simple. If there is a hot topic it’s possible to manipulate your posts so that they get more hits.

…With any niche there is always some aspect that has a buzz about it, something that is in the news. This doesn’t matter whether your blog is about dogs, cameras, celebrities or whatever.

Why does it work? Because many people do blog searching instead of more general search. Often they will want to view most recent posts. Thats why search engines do a very good job in indexing blogs with posts on hot topics. It is still good to do some pinging, to let them know that you have updated.

Few hints on the post itself.

• Make sure that the post is not way off your blog’s topic.
• Include the hot name in the title of the page and of the post.
• Mention the hot name in the post marked in bold or/and italics few times, just like this Paris Hilton or Britney Spears.
• Include a picture with alt tag containing your hot name.
• Include couple links containing hot name in the text. Something like this Paris Hilton
